What brings the crowd to the club? Drink specials, the chance to go out, meeting new people, and the chance to dance to good music. Thats where the deejay comes in. With the rebirth of Myth, as well as the already established clubs here in the Twin Cities, I am seeing many new faces on the scene.
One of those newer faces is DJ Xaiko who has been featured at many different parties thrown my Chozen One Productions at Karma, Epic, and Myth. DJ Xaiko has only been spinning for two and half years and is still getting his feet wet, but he has established himself as and up and coming artist in the entertainment industry.
I recently had the chance to meet up with DJ Xaiko and got to know the man behind the music a little bit better.
Ryan: I’m here with up and coming musical artist DJ Xaiko. Thanks for being apart of Hmoodle.
DJ Xaiko: No problem, thanks for having me.
Ryan: Before we talk about your music, why don’t you tell our readers about yourself?
DJ Xaiko: Well, I was born in a small town a small town, which is Winona, Minnesota. I was raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin where I’ve been lucky to grow up and know so many great people throughout my life. I’d say I’m your typical guy. I love cars and playing all kind of sports. Of course I love watching football. Go Pack Go! We’re going back to the Super Bowl this year. I also enjoy time with friends and family.
Ryan: How long have you been deejaying?
DJ Xaiko: I’ve been spinning for about two and half years now.
Ryan: How’d you get your start?
DJ Xaiko: I’ve always wanted to become a deejay when I was in my teen years,,but I never had the funds until a few years back. Then I thought I’d get a cheap set to start and see if it was something I’d like to pursue, and here I am still.
Ryan: Do you remember your first time performing in front of a large crowd? If so, how’d you do?
DJ Xaiko: My first time was performing for Chozen One at Epic. It was the first time I ever spun in front of so many people. All I remember is that I was sweating from all the nerves, but I had a great time.
Ryan: How have you grown as an artist?
DJ Xaiko: I’d say I’ve grown a lot. Not only am I able to spin at large venues and keep the music going, but I can switch up the from different genres and keep the hype of the party going.
Ryan: What types of struggles have you had to endure?
DJ Xaiko: I’d say at the start financially its tough because the equipment isn’t cheap. The hardest part was getting my music out there and getting a chance to perform.
Ryan: How do you describe your style of music?
DJ Xaiko: I love to mix all mainstream music, but then throw in some old school stuff like Eddie Murphy’s “My Girl Likes to Party All the Time”.
Ryan: If you could collaborate with any artist, who would it be and why?
DJ Xaiko: I’d love to collaborate with anyone. It gives me room to learn and better my schools as a deejay. I would however like to someday collaborate with a mainstream artist.
Ryan: If you could perform at any venue, which would it be?
DJ Xaiko: I love every chance to perform at any Venue, but no doubt love the bigger venue’s like Myth and Epic.
Ryan: Do you have any advice for any inspiring deejay’s?
DJ Xaiko: I’d say practice hard and keep on learning. There is always something new to learn, never stop. Also incorporate all kinds of music in your line up, enjoy the moment, and have fun.
Ryan: Where can our readers see you perform in the near future?
DJ Xaiko: Fuuture events that I will performing on include Labor Day weekend in Appleton at Anduzzi’s and September 16th at Venue. Lots of other events that are also in the works that will be confirmed soon. Stay up to date and follow me on FB at www.Facebook.com/djxaiko
Ryan: Do you have any last words for our readers?
DJ Xaiko: I just want to thank all the new readers for taking the time to get to know me a little bit more. Hope to catch you guys out at my events, come find me and we’ll drink it up. To all the current supporters and fans, you guys know how we do it already. (www.facebook.com/xaikoentertainment – www.facebook.com/djxaiko) A big thanks to Hmoodle for taking the time to set-up this interview with me. It was a lot of fun and you guys are welcomed to come party with us (Xaiko Ent) here in Wisconsin any time. Can’t forget my loving and supporting family that has been there from day one cheering me on. Thanks a bunch and love you guys. Also thanks to All the Promoters/deejays that I’ve worked with. Without you guys I wouldn’t of had the exposure that I’ve gotten, and of course all the great memories and fun. Thank you Chozen One, Trilogy, Milwaukee Boy, CMX, Underscore Empire, DJ Palistine, DJ Short Round, DJ Trix, DJKosmo, and my extra hard working team Xaiko Ent, love you guys. Last but not least the Mrs. (Phua Xiong). I can’t thank you enough for everything you’ve done and sacrificed, I know its not easy having every weekend filled with driving all over Wisconsin and Minnesota and spending our holidays at clubs instead of with family. So thank you for all the support, care, and love. I love you beautiful.
Its great to see young artists getting the chance to shine and I hope thats a trend that continues. If we don’t give them a chance we miss out out seeing talented artists like DJ Xaiko share their love of music and their great music ability with us all. I look forward to seeing more of DJ Xaiko at club in the near future.
I want to thank DJ Xaiko for taking the time to be apart of Hmoodle. I know he is a busy man, so this was very much appreciated.
