A brand new night club opened its doors in Minneapolis this past weekend. Element Nightclub (formerly Foundation on 10 South 5th Street) had its grand opening this past Friday the 13th and Hmoodle was there to cover the event.
We made our way to downtown Minneapolis and arrived at Element just as they were about to open their doors. In all my years of clubbing, I had never been to a club prior to sunset, but I guess there’s a first time for everything. With the red carpet rolled out we walked through the doors and set out to enjoy the evening.
First thing you notice after making your way down the stairs is that you are greeted by the bar area. To the left of the stairs there was a beer service girl which is always nice (they had a few of those placed around the club for your convenience) and the free champagne (for opening weekend only) service girl. And let me tell you, the champagne flowed like we had just won the Superbowl.
The staff was gracious enough to give us access to each location within the club. The private VIP area to the left of the dance floor has its own bar area and plenty of servers walking around to fulfill your beverage needs. There are also other locations in the public area of the club that are roped off for VIP services. The VIP areas have plenty enough room for those of you who like your space and like to splurge.
I have to say that the serving staff was great. Our server for the evening, Angela, seemed to make sure we always had a drink in our hand. Very friendly and sweet, Angela made a good impression on us. When she wasn’t around, there was another server right there trying to make sure our needs were being met.
The dance floor seemed to be packed all night as well. It is pretty spacious and has two stripper poles within it to let your inner showgirl out. Another cool aspect is that the steps that surround the dance floor are highlighted by lights that change color. It’s a simple but effective effect that gives the place flare. The DJ did a great job of playing music that got people on the dance floor and kept them there.
The only complaint we could come up with when we were there was that we had a hard time find trash receptacles to place our finished bottles in. When we were on the sidelines, it was okay because our server would take them or we could place them on the bar tops, but when walking around there was nowhere to place them. It just could be that if they placed bins all over the place, it would take away for the ambience of the club, which I can totally understand.
Prior to being named Element the venue was occupied by Foundation, as I stated earlier, and even before that by Level and Rogue. Truth be told, this was my first time in this venue for any of these clubs. Hopefully Element can accomplish what these former clubs couldn’t do and that’s have long term success. They definitely had a great start as they had a full house on evening of their opening. We wish Matt and Will the best of luck with this endeavor.
If you are looking for a new place to hangout in Minneapolis then I would definitely recommend making your way to Element. If you enjoy good music, like great service, and a good crowd, then that’s the place for you. If you want to know their future events, drink specials, or age limits, then check out their site at www.elementmpls.com or call them at 612-354-2911 during business hours.
