Hmong House Restaurant

I recently had the opportunity to check out one of the newest restaurants in the Twin Cities, Hmong House, which is located in North Saint Paul, Minnesota and I am glad I did.

If you haven’t been there before, I would recommend using your GPS to get there because it can be passed by pretty easily cause its tucked away near the Target and its front door does not face traffic.

Walking into the establishment I was met with a great surprise as had no idea it would be as big as it is. Then I found out that the venue is also used as banquet hall for parties and other large gatherings. We were greeted right away by an employee and were given a table. The great service and big smiles continued throughout our visit. Definitely felt welcomed.

I order my favorite dish, which is beef Pad Thai. I am a very picky when it comes to my Pad Thai and their version was very flavorful. My only regret was not having them make it spicier. My date ordered the chow fun and that was just as good with a great balance of noodles, meat, and vegetables.

Their prices are very fair considering their serving sizes are huge. Its definitely family style servings, so if you go with a big group, you can get a variety of food for a very affordable price. I should also add that they do serve alcohol, if thats something you are interested in with your meal.

I would highly recommend you give Hmong House a shot. I will be going back for more Pad Thai, but to also try many other items on their vast menu. If you do happen to go there, you should also check out the very cool looking mural they have painted on their wall.

Good food! Worst customer service ever! Waited for 15 minutes and still did NOT get ANY WATER! They weren’t even busy. The owner was walking around holding his baby. Did not even think once, to come up to us and ask if we needed anything. I swear. This is why Hmong people , their restaurants will never prosper, because they lack the skills of a CUSTOMER SERVICE!

Went there again, thinking the first time was just a miss and guess what? SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN! Owner’s wife this time was in the building, and not once did she come to say hi, how are you, can i get anything for you? She clearly saw that my husband and I had been waiting for a good 20 minutes with no drinks, no nothing. BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE! ESPECIALLY FROM THE OWNERS THEMSELVES! Had to wait for water and the customer service was still BAD AS EVER. Never going there again.

Agree, same thing happened to us. Not once they come and ask if we want anything else. Took a very long time to get our foods. I hope they get their act together and have some customer service otherwise the restaurant will be close!

It would be awesome if you kept your prejudice a** at home and never go there again! That is absolutely one of the most ignorant, uneducated, small minded statements I have ever read in my life, to say nothing about it being extremely prejudiced!! … “This is why Hmong people , their restaurants will never prosper, because they lack the skills of a CUSTOMER SERVICE!”” – yeah, that is what you wrote… are you freaking kidding me? Did you just crawl out of a hole in back alley somewhere? You are total idiot!! It would be one thing to say the employees and/or owners of this establishment lack good customer service skills, that is certainly fair if that was your experience. But to have the audacity and stupidity to suggest is has anything to do with being Hmong?? You should be ashamed, miss Mary, to put your 2 cents worth in anywhere, because it isn’t worth a single cent!! Crawl back into the hole you came out of and work on cultivating a brain!!!

First time going there was awful! i heard SO MANY great reviews about HMONG HOUSE and how their portions were just HUGE. Best HMONG OWNED restaurant in a long time. So, as you can imagine, I was super excited to go eat there. My husband and I went there and we were seated right away. We did get our order taken right away. The server was nice, but did not come back with any drinks that we ordered. Did not even offer us any water, which is ALWAYS A MUST!
My husband and I literally sat there for 20 minutes, with nothing! The owner madame walked around, greeted two young ladies that walked in 10 minutes after my husband and I did, and did not even ONCE come to say, “hi, how are you doing? have you been helped.?” She CLEARLY glanced at my husband and I two times… still nothing. Did not even attempt to help us with anything. I looked at my husband and we both just walked out of there. That was my first and LAST time ever going there. I wonder who ate the 5 dishes I ordered! *muah* All and All, your service sucks!!

It is alright, but worst customer service! I literally have to chased down a waitress to get our water and to pick up a few of our plates! I don’t think I would be going to anymore Hmong restaurants because nothing tastes better than authentic Hmong food that is made and freshly prepared from home.

Hmong people need to learn how to serve and respect their customer. I agree with all you guys. I glad I haven’t Ben there.,but I’ve heard about it. I might go and try it out until I hear a good news about Hmong House
