D’Sean Ross

If you are familiar with Bill Bellamy’s stand up competition show “Who’s Got Jokes”, which airs on TV1, then you might be familiar with comedian D’Sean Ross. D’Sean was a contestant on season one and although he didn’t win, he made his mark on the comedic world.

A former Graduate of Cal State Fullerton, D’Sean has been on the stand up circuit for about five years. Whether hosting at the Laugh Factory, or making appearances on the stages were legends were born, D’Sean’s humor has won over many fans along the way.

D’Sean’s performances are pretty tame as far as crude humor goes, but he is absolutely hilarious. He goes on to say during his routine that he cheated so much in high school that for his graduation picture, he took a picture with the guy he cheated off of, telling the guy “this is half your degree too”. That’s only just a glimpse into the amusing routine of D’Sean Ross.

I had the opportunity to interview D’Sean for Hmoodle and this is the outcome of that interview.

Hmoodle: D’Sean, thanks for taking the time to participate in this interview with us here at

D’Sean: No Problem.

Hmoodle: Have you been keeping busy this summer?

D’Sean: Absolutely. I’m out of town right now I am in Pennsylvania, then I’m going to D.C, and then I will be in New York before I go back to LA. It’s been a great summer.

Hmoodle: On your Myspace page, it states that you were born in Pittsburgh and now you live in Los Angeles. Was that a difficult adjustment to make?

D’Sean: Not at all. I only lived there for 4 years and then we moved to Cali, so I’m a Cali kid.

Hmoodle: Also on your Myspace page it states you’re a college graduate. Where did you attend college and what did you major in?

D’Sean: I went to Cal State Fullerton. My major was Radio T.V/Film and it only took me 5 1/2 years…JK.

Hmoodle: So did you want to be a comedian before attending college, or was this something you discovered later on?

D’Sean: I had never thought about being a comedian, but I always enjoyed making people laugh. I went to a comedy show after college and I got challenged to doing a set and tried it.

Hmoodle: How long have you been a comedian?

D’Sean: I’ve been doing comedy for 5 years now

Hmoodle: Where was your first performance and how did it go?

D’Sean: My first performance was at Nexus Jass Cafe in Ontario, and it went great. If it had no not then I don’t think I would have continued with comedy

Hmoodle: What’s some of your favorite experiences since becoming a comedian?

D’Sean: Some of my best experiences since becoming a comedian were doing the warm up for the B.E.T Celebration of Gospel, and the B.E.T Awards. I also won the opening spot for the Heavy weights of Comedy at the Gibson Theater and Universal Studios. Those were all goals of mine and I achieved them and that’s why they are major to me.

Hmoodle: You were a contestant on Bill Bellamy’s “Who’s Got Jokes”, what was that experience like?

D’Sean: Bill Bellamy’s show was a great experience because we taped at the Wilshire Theater. That is where the Def Comedy Jam reunion was taped, so to be on the same stage as all the new legends was an awesome opportunity.

Hmoodle: So, you’ve done that, what can we expect from you in the future?

D’Sean: Well, when I get back to L.A. I will be shooting more sketches for the world to view and you can see them at my Myspace page until my website gets finished. Then you can go and see all my projects, but I also am a host at the Laugh Factory every Sunday night for the 8 PM and 10 PM shows, so if your in town come see me.

Hmoodle: Once again, thank you for your time. Is there anything else you’d like to say to your readers?

D’Sean: Thank you for the interview. Watch for me, D’Sean Ross, because I am coming up quickly and I have a show that will not let you down. You can bring your whole family because I am a comedian that doesn’t cuss.

When D’Sean states that he is up and coming, he isn’t kidding. His stock is in the rise. He’s a funny guy with a great attitude. He’s one of those guys you just can’t help but to like. If you aren’t familiar with his work, it would definitely be worth your time to check him out. You can catch his videos via his Myspace page or YouTube him.

I want thank D’Sean for doing this interview with us. I look forward to hopefully seeing him perform live in the near future.
